Gemechis Negasa is a medical engineer and digital health researcher specializing in biomedical engineering, health information technology, and data analytics. His work focuses on AI, medical imaging, and rehabilitation engineering to enhance patient care and optimize medical technology integration.

He holds an MSc in Medical Engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg (DAAD-funded) and an MSc in Health Information Technology from Mbarara University (EU-funded). His expertise spans medical image processing, biomedical data analysis, and medical device regulation, with certifications in Medical Device Regulation
(MDR), Data Analytics, and Project Management.

As a lecturer at Haramaya University, he taught biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, and health data analytics, mentored students, and led digital learning initiatives. His industry experience as a biomedical engineer at Shashamane Specialized Hospital involved medical device management and training healthcare professionals.

Currently, Gemechis is conducting research in EMG-controlled prosthetic hands, focusing on developing real-time control strategies to help amputees regain grasping ability through neural interface technologies. His previous research at University Hospital Erlangen involved molecular imaging, tumor analysis, and AI-driven diagnostics. Passionate about bridging technology and healthcare, he is committed to advancing digital health, AI applications, and human-machine interaction, particularly in resource-limited settings.
